This is my first trip report so be kind.
We are empty nesters now. Rather than sit at home and contribute to the neighborhood kids tooth decay, we decided to hit the road for Halloween weekend. It’s been a few years since we have camped in the Yosemite Valley. When I found there were camping reservations available I pulled the trigger on one. We’re more into boon docking but in the Yosemite Valley that’s not an option.
Here we are approaching the valley at 5000 feet and the leaves are already turning.

We found our site and setup camp

The next morning we followed the river

Beauty and the beast

To Mirror Lake

Hiking back

There was always our chaperone

Hiking below Half Dome

Our Jack O’Lantern

The first night a bear got into our ice chest. Luckily he didn’t drink beer. We’re not taking any chances this time.

Saturday night, Halloween, was a full moon – trick or treat

The next day we hit the trail to stretch our legs and make the most of our last day. The falls are flowing – a little.

We stopped by the chapel

Then one more Half Dome shot from the river (I just can’t get enough Half Dome)

And finally El Capitan saying good bye.

Then we head back home.

Now you need to tell us how a bear got into your ice chest when it was locked in the bear proof box you are required to keep it in.

Thanks Dave! It was in the low 30's there at night but got up to mid 60's daytime. Yes the dual pane windows worked great. No condensation at all. The wave 3 worked good too until it set off the CO monitor. Guess we'll have to experiment with how much venting it needs

Nice photos & report - and glad to see someone else with a carved pumpkin and TC. It's cool how much the parks change with the seasons - I'd been to Glacier a lot of times growing up but seeing it in the fall is quite different. Hope to see Yosemite one of these days.....in any season.

Great trip report, I still can’t believe the record for climbing El Capitan is just over 2 and a half hours.
