My Newmar Cypress came with shocks. Last month while inspecting I found that 3 out of the 4 shocks worked loose. One was damaged beyond repair. When I removed the damaged shock, I found little or no resistance when pulling or pushing on the shock. I decided to replace all four. I purchased Monroe RV shocks and I can really tell the difference. When I installed the new shocks I used lock nuts and don't have to worry about them comming loose. Also during my inspection I found wear in the shackles, bolts, bushings, and shackle brackets. I replaced all of the hardware with Morryde wet bolts, brass bushings, and heavier shackles and shackle brackets. Now I can grease the suspension from time to time. We had about 12,000 miles towing on the 5th wheel when I found these things. In my opinion "good shocks" are worth while. Alan

My 08 Gulfstream came with brackets but no shocks. Only made sense to me that shocks would soften the ride a bit. Purchased 4 Monroe's from Stengel Brothers and installed. Didn't notice any major improvement but they can't hurt. Interestingly when I asked the dealer about shocks he seemed a little surprised that it didn't have shocks and then seemed to want to drop the subject, hmmmmmmm. Anyway, when I asked about cost he told me $125 per shock. So Stengel Brothers got my order.

We have a 09 3400RL Montana that came new with a Mor-ryde pin box and the Mor-ryde suspension. While travelling over rough roads and RR tracks I noticed a lot of bounce. Early in Oct. we installed the Dexter heavy duty wet bolt kit and the dexter shock kit for each axle. I completed all work myself; not an easy job for shock installation, but completed the installation after about 8 hours (unit had no mounts). The ride of the 5ier is great now especially over railway tracks etc. The unit is very stable now with no continual bounce as before. An excellent investment!!

I ordered our 5vr with shocks and they worked well. Unfortunately, Lipperts welding practices are not very good and the all the shock mount welds broke, eventually destroying one wheel and tire and damaging the trailer. Lippert paid for the repairs and damage.

I strongly recommend you get shocks for your trailer and if you have a Lippert trailer frame with the mounts on it, have the welds checked and rewelded if needed.

I had shocks and Centerpoint air ride added to my Keystone 5er along with Trailair pin box. I'm happy with the results.

What shocks do any of you recommend? I have shock mounts already and have thought about putting some on. I don't travel a whole lot, so was thinking about a standard Monroe or similar one instead of something expensive like a Bilstein.
