Need suggestions - We are leaving for Branson, MO next week. We live in SW OK and will be driving across the state on I-44 NE. We would like to stay at a campground or casino close to I-44 somewhere between Tulsa and Joplin. We would be arriving around 6 pm. I know there are three Casino's. Can anyone tell me if you can make reservations or what the camping at the casino's is like. The casino's are Cherokee, Downstream, Quapaw. Or is there any campgrounds on I-44 that I might not know about. Thanks for your help. Deb

We don't care if it is free or not. We are looking for close to I-44 and if we are able just to pull in and park.

Go to casino camping.com and you will find the casinos you ask about.

I have but all it says is there is camping at those casinos. I thought maybe someone has camped there and can tell me about them.

We have stayed at Sky City, NM before that someone suggested, and it was great for easy off and on the highway and didn't have to unhook.

Did you click on the casino names on the Oklahoma page? Clicking will open another page with more information. http://www.casinocamper.com/Oklahoma.htm

Downstream even has free electric hookups!

The Quapaw casino in Miami has a campground and I heard that it is free.

We stopped for a night at the Cherokee Casino - Will Rogers Downs near Claremore, OK last May. They have quite a few FHU sites in the parking lot outside the casino. There were also a number of sites in a grassy area, but it was too muddy when we were there. IIRC, the charge was $20. We arrived late in the afternoon and there were many sites available.

This past summer we spent a night at the Cherokee Casino in Catoosa (Tulsa), and will do so again when heading to the Northeast. Since we were there they have opened a Hard Rock Cafe at the casino which would have made our dining experience more enjoyable, but as it was, everything was fine. It's easy access to I-44 and not far from a Flying J.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Well we had planned on staying at Cherokee now Hard Rock but getting off I-44 was all under contruction and a major mess. So we decided to press on since we weren't tired. We planned on going to the Casino on the border of KS,OK,MO. well I copied the numbers and info wrong of the internet, and we ended up at Borderline casino $9. for the first three nights. They had a shuttle and the people were very friendly. Also received a players card and they were having some spin a wheel and you received free money to play. We ended up winning enough to pay for camping and some. Received a buy one get one free meal. We also took advantage of their 99 cent breakfast. The campground is a parking lot with E,W,S. easy pull in. Besides the 4 trains that went by it was okay. Deb
