My understanding is this was originally taken from flatratetech.com, a website for professional auto technicians to discuss, diagnosis, repair, etc. issues with vehicles and that the Ford modular engines, including Ford's V10, is engineered for a 450,000 mile service life with a 19% exception rate (some more, some less).
This has been posted multiple times (I've seen it in multiple posts), based on technicians reporting what's been stated to them by Ford, what Ford has advised technicians regarding the modular engine design/engineering.
Please don't take it as gospel, or that I'm stating this as fact. I'm posting what I've read elsewhere. I've read of people with high mileage V10s, I know locally of a forestry business (good way to put high mileage ABUSE on a vehicle) that uses V10s in MANY of their trucks. So, don't know if it's really a 450,000 mile engine, but it sure wouldn't surprise me based on what I've seen posted by owners of those trucks.

114K is nothing for a V10. I might start worrying when it's a bit past twice those miles (250K or so). I've seen one wind up over 400K (and it's still going) in one of the most abusive applications around: an F-550 4x4 repo truck.

Say what? From experience: a V10 (or a 5.4) will wind up 250,000+ miles on whatever bulk 5W-30 the company gets the best price on. I'd bet maybe--MAYBE--one fleet V10 in ten gets synthetic blend oil.

Just got our first oil change a the Ford Dealer where we purchased our 2009 V-10 Superduty...No mention of synthetic oil???

The Ford 5w20 oil the dealers use is a synthetic blend.

If it was purchased in 2005 or early 2006, It was driven about 2,400 miles a month and most likely not a start and stop grocery wagon. just a thought.

Hotshotters can do 1000 miles in a couple weeks.
Wreckers can run 24/7 for weeks. (The 2001 F-550 where Liz works sees 100K/year.)
Delivery trucks & couriers can REALLY wind up the miles.
