Mile High, I use square plastic milk cartons to put my propane tanks in, strapped down, to go get them refilled, keeps them upright a little better. Think a 5 gallon plastic jug may fit in them also. I have a large cooler in the front of the bed, with a milk carton on either side, fits snug. In the cartons I put my Power Service fuel additives, wiper fluid, etc in them and bungeed down. Makes it easy to get to.
Good idea - great idea for propane, I wonder if the Blitz 5-gal cans will fit in them. I could clamp them together across the back.

diesel is not available at all gas stations, and diesel trucks tend to tow larger trailers and more often then gas trucks, so access to the pump can be an issue.

Don't tell that to the guys and gals that drive Semis.

I drive 34 ft gas Motorhome with a 21 foot trailer, and I can usually get it up to and safely away from most any pump. I had recently filled up at a Station on a postage stamp, or so it seemed. It only had 4 pumps the in drive was on the main road and the out was on the side street. Take it slow, and it can be done. Not a problem, but these are the times that tries men's soles.

It's not the length, it's the height. 5th wheel trailers can run as high as 13'-6", which you won't see in a motorhome. I have had to disconnect and fill because of low canopies.
