I've owned my 2000 Ford F250 7.3 diesel, for about five years now and still haven't located the Fuel Pump reset switch. I bought her used and it didn't come with an owner’s manual. In the engine compartment it's labeled “to reset fuel pump refer to owner's manual" so that's out of the question. I attempted to find a manual on the web (for 0 costs) and was unsuccessful. So I turn to you guys and gals, the most informed bunch of people I know. Oh, you’re also free. Could use the help here, you never know when the day might come that I have to push that button to get going again. Thanks Happy Camping.

I'm not sure of the year year model, but it was around the same as yours - on his we found it on the passenger side, located under the removable kick panel cover

If you were sitting in the passenger seat, look where your feet rest. kinda' under the dash/glove box, but to the right very close to the carpet

If not there, try the driver side kick panel

Go to www.ford-trucks.com/forums and go to the 1999-2003 7.3 Diesel Forum. Ask your question there and you will have the answer in a few minutes, most likely with pictures. Trust me on this one.

I use to work at a Ford dealership and the fuel reset should be (on most models) on the passenger side kick panel (under the glovebox)

Not really a "dumb question" - it's an inertia switch - if the key is on and you hit something, say the fuel line breaks at impact, without this system, the fuel pump might continue to pump fuel, maybe even in to flames - this system simply cuts off the power to the fuel pump

It can trip on large bumps, if you bump into something, and sometimes they just trip without an apparent reason

Thanks djevans. I should have known that. I had to help a co-worker, a long time ago, get his car running....found out it was the inertia switch that had failed
