We are going to take a flight to see DD and have not flown with prescription meds in carry on baggage before. Do we need to show this to them? None of it is liquid, so don't think it needs to be in the plastic bag as far as I can tell from airline & TSA websites. We're only going to be gone for a few days and don't want to pay the extra fee to check baggage, plus need meds in case luggage is lost (if we were checking it).
I know the name on the RX has to match passengers name, but that is about as much as I can find out via websites.
Does anyone have experience with this situation? TIA!

We have flown twice with my RX. Haven't had any problems with the drug I'm on. Just had it in the bottle it come in, in my carry on baggage. Never said a thing to them, never pulled it out to show them. Just like you. All I needed for one week (did laundry at my Dad's) was in one small carry on bag. Now, liquid stuff I had in a clear zip lock baggie, I pulled that out of the carry on bag. Just be sure you have your ticket and driver's license. A book to read while you wait for the plane is always good.
EDIT: Nothing to do with flying but with RX. I just found out I can get mine at www.drugstore.com with my health insurance paying co-pay. I can get it there for less then in Mexico.

I have flown several times and ALWAYS carry my meds in my carry-on bag, just in case. I have to put all of mine in a gallon size ziplock bag, but if you just a couple of bottles no need for a ziplock bag. I was advised to carry them in their origional bottles with the labels, don't put a bunch of pills in those little divider containers you can buy. I carry liquid insulin and syringes also with no problem. I have done this five or six times on international flights and never had a problem going or coming home with the Security check. Have a great tip!!!!!!

When we flew earlier this year, I had all our meds in my purse. I never took them out and they never asked me too. I guess that qualifies as a carry on. Also I had all of my diabetic supplies in my purse, and they never said a word when it went through the xray machine.

Not an issue. I fly with both my pill tray filled up and my bottles of meds so I make sure I have enough. They aren't interested in that sort of thing.

Thanks, everyone..That makes me feel better! I didn't think it would be a problem, but just couldn't find much about it. I like to know about situations ahead of time if we can...Don't like surprises!
