We are brand new to camping and just bought our first camper. One thing we will be doing is a fair amount of dry camping at antique tractor shows. You can usually use generators, but you need a fairly quite model like Honda or Onan. Tractor Supply has a Champion 3500 Watt for 299.99. Is this a reliable and quiet generator or is a Honda or Onan better?

Just my opinion - it might be ok at a tractor show but too loud for most campgrounds.

Better? What do you consider better?
The Honda or Yamaha generators are quieter than a Champion.
If a quiet generator is the most important, then those are the two best choices.
If you want a reliable generator that is quieter than many, and up to $1000 cheaper, then the Champion will do just fine.
I have a Champion 3500 and really like it. I've put it through a few good loads and it still runs great. Though it is not as quiet as a Honda or Yamaha, I can buy 4 Champions for what I could by the Yamaha I was looking at.

It's a good deal and a good generator. If you can afford 2500 dollars to ocasionally run the AC go for the Honda.

Here's a link to a Duro Power that is getting some attention for it being quieter. There's been some mention of it on the Chinese Generator Thread. Might want to check it out.

I would go with the Champion in a heartbeat.. If you need more quiet gerry rig another muffler on it..
Years ago I bought a comerical 2500 watt Honda for about half the price of the camp model.. It was a noisy little bugger.. And I gerry rigged a extra muffler that helped... I only used it when I needed the extra quiet tho. Worked for me at the time.

How long does the Champion run on a tank of gas?
The reason I asked about how quiet it is, is that at a couple of these shows you are lined up nose to tail with other campers and no more than 15 feet away to the side from another line of campers.
Who sells the Duro-Power?
Thanks
