That 6.7 CTD should pull your 6k trailer with ease. My fiver weighs about 12k loaded for fulltime use. Towing at around 60 MPH I can get about 11-12 MPG on mostly flat highway. Truck is totally stock.

LOL... I just laugh reading all of these claims of MPG's. If everyone is compairing, then they inflate (or seem to), and when everyone is complaining about EPA everyone reduces their MPG reports.

My brother has about 8,000 miles on his 6.7 CTD. Early this week he just said he is getting 14 empty (by hand), country driving. So not quite highway, but not near city. His computer is high at least 1.5 everytime.

Trust me I believe him, because he can show me every single fillup, gallons and odometer readings for the entire life of his truck. And I can do the same with mine.

I rarely get a good empty reading, since it sits most of the time, and when it is used there is towing involved in just about every tank.

BUT, this last tank was purely empty, no towing. Mixed driving, country roads, and more city driving then my brother. On my '08 F250 PSD w/ 17,000 miles, I just got 12.0 MPG's (13.7 on computer). I drive it to get good mileage, I don't drive it like a grandma, but I don't jump on the go pedal just to beat the guy next to me to the next light.

Forgive me if I don't believe people are getting 12 mpg's towing any type of TT or 5er, with any of these DPF equiped (stock) trucks. These claims are laughable. 10.x I can believe, 11.0 or greater I question the math skills, or the (rounding) used.

Pre-DPF trucks, I'm sure get better, and those trucks I don't really have a good guide, so I don't question their claims.

Mountain towing, 9.8 to 11.7mpg. Mountain empty, 15.2 to 16.1.

Did a trip late September, around 950 miles total. Truck had 456 miles on it when we left and a little over 1400 back at home. Average for the trip was 11.3 with the camper in signature(5000lbs)on all the time. This was in the Sierras around Tahoe, and over to the coast at Ft Bragg, south to Bodega Bay, then home. Empty I'm seeing 14 to 15.

Most see to be getting what I am getting.... round 14 mix of country and NC city.

... and from what Ive read here from the Dodge owners is I should expect somewhere around 11-13 give or take which is a definite improvement from the 8 I was getting with the Mega cab gasser.

... and yes ... I am in a household of women .. sons in the military now ...and we will be heading to Biloxi to see him over the holiday .. but yes the girls .. wife, 2 daughters 12, 8 ..Cloe the dog .. peanut the cat ... thats why I continue to ride my motorcycle ... the only excuse for an escape .. really though .. wouldnt give it up for the world !

Thanks again for the input !!! Will let ya know what the MPG is. I dont log every fueling, but I do jot down miles and gallons of fuel pumped ...

When I had just over 5000 miles on the clock, we took a trip through lots of mountains, worked out to 5000 miles total(doubled the odometer). Towing our 15.5k 5th, I put 640 gallons of fuel through my engine. 7.8 mpg. Now we have almost 19k on the clock, towing for 10k of that. Average towing mpg is 10.0-10.5. I have a spring project in mind to perk those numbers up though...

You said question the math skills, I like to call it fuzzy math. I must have the worst luck in the world when it comes to getting "One of the good one's". I must be buying all of the lower than everyone else reports MPG trucks. I never get as good of MPG as I hear and see reported.
