Hello Chrysler, do you recall what happened when Ford renamed the Taurus the "Five Hundred"? Painful lesson learned. Now is not the time to alienate your most loyal customers.

I have been a Dodge Ram owner for 12 years. Love my current truck. I do not like what Fiat is doing to them.

Next truck will be a Ford. Period.

What IS Fiat doing to the Ram that is so awful?

To me it sounds like they're going to be doing exactly what Dodge would have done in a better economy: Make small changes and improvements with every model year, and come out with a redesigned truck when the automotive press starts to refer to their current platform as "dated."

Plus, they're finally putting a 4-letter F-word on a Cummins-powered truck. That should make some of you guys extremely happy!

If you stop and think about it, RV manufacturers rename the models every 3 or 4 years. Some names are dropped for a few years, and then come back. It makes me wonder some times; "Why the change?". Maybe they made a lemon and change the name so new purchasers do not connect to the name used in previous year.

With the rest of the Dodge lineup being poor sellers, the Ram is the backbone of the namesake. Ram alone cannot sustain the entire Dodge lineup which could lead to a total bankruptcy of Dodge. By taking it away from Dodge, when Dodge fails which I believe it will, Ram will survive and be a money maker.
Just my opinion.

Didn't read the whole article, but think I get the gist of it...

Brand ID folks for large corporations make around $500K/year plus bonuses

They screw up all to often.

The Ford screw mentioned above is one.

The GMC Suburban another.

Just about anyone, anywhere on the planet knows what a 'Suburban' is.

What is a Yukon XL ? Further diluted that Brand ID by using 'Yukon'
on the chopped version. Further diluted more by using 'XL' on the
baby SUV. Suburban is the longest running badge in automotive history.
Think the first one was in 1935 till now.

These high salaried or over priced marketing types live in a vacuum.
Or the the cereal/soap/etc box world....This is NOT a throw away item,
or at least to me it isn't...

Here is a brand ID that just about everyone here knows: "Power Wagon"
Did GM or Ford make that? How does: "Ram Power Wagon" sound?
