I have the MorRyde IS system & it definitely has shocks. I would say that you must have shocks up there somewhere or your system doesn't need them. The suspension you have is much more expensive than what most trailers have, it just seems they would put shocks on if they were needed. Call Dexter & ask them about your system.

We also have the Mor Ryde IS system and it has shocks. The IS system is far superior to the OEM spring, axle, etc system.

Okay so I looked at what a torsion spring axle is and you where right it is one of those. thank you. I do however want to know if I can put shocks or something on there to help take some of the bounce out. is that possible?
Yes, Monroe makes a retro fit kit for torsion axle's. I had a lot of bounce in a GS Streamlite trailer that had torsion axle and I added the shock kits. It helped but I traded the trailer before I took it on a long trip.

Sounds like you have Torsion spring axles.... The spring is in the axle tube. I don't like them and would not have them but some people do like them.

I've had two RVs with rubber torsion axles and they definately ride smoother. I've also had two RVs with leaf springs. The difference is significant, if my present unit had rubber torsion axles, even as an option, I would have been pretty happy. Instead, I spent $$$ on an aftermarket conversion from leaf springs to the Mor/ryde IS system. I suggest you get some more time towing with the rubber torsion suspension before deciding about adding shocks.

I have had many boat trailer with the torsion axles, and I love them. No more noisy rusting leafs to worry about. Gives the boat a smooth ride down the highway. Never have seen a torsion axle(not talking about the Mor/Ryde types) equipped with shocks. I will give you one suggestion that has worked well for me. During the off season I raise the trailers frame up to relieve the constant load on the torsion springs, my thoughts and through experience it prevents the springs from taking a "set", thus allowing longer spring life.

Rubber Torsion axles are fine but shocks would be a good addtion to them. I've had those axles on cargo trailers hauling my MC's and those things performed brilliantly soaking up bumps, but performed even better after adding shocks for the rebound dampening. Comparison done with trailering MC's across I-10 were night and day between Torsion and standard springs.

Rubber segmants captured within the axle tube resist the rotation of an axle shaft within, shaped in a variety of different config's from square tube (lighter duty) to shafts shaped like the end of a Torx bit screwdriver. Rubber over time will age but for the lifespan of the average RV, I wouldn't think you'd have to worry at all. Add shocks and you'll have the sweetest ride out there. JMO
