Does anyone know about what it costs to install a Jake Brake in a 2007 5.9L Dodge. Thanks in advance.

Call the Jacobs (or Cummins) dealer, and ask about the Jacobs Rambrake Exhaust Brake. then check with the other exhaust brake manufacturers. There is quite a variation in prices, I hear.
I have the Jacobs on my truck, and it works very nicely.
Yes, it IS a "Jake Brake". It is manufactured by Jacobs for the 5.9 Cummins in the Dodge trucks. JACOBS Brake = Jake Brake.
The purists will argue the point. that's fine, they are entitled to their opinion. It is a brake. It is made by Jacobs. It is a Jake Brake. Just that simple.

I paid almost $2000.00 installed on my 06 to have it installed. I thought the 07 had it installed as a standard option and also that the 07 had the 6.7L. I must be confused.
IMO the exhaust brake can be a life saver. Especially if you are towing in the mountains. I have a great story about that..

The 6.7L didn't come in until 07.5 and came with the exhaust brake. The early 07's were still 5.9 with no EB.

The 5.9 was still available in early '07.
Not all 6.7 pickups got the exhaust brake. Chassis-cabs come with the exhaust brake as standard equipment.

From Jacobs web Q & A.
"Jake Brake® is a registered trademark of Jacobs Vehicle SystemsTM. The term "Jake Brake" is sometimes incorrectly used to refer to compression release type engine brakes in general. The term correctly refers to all of Jacobs Vehicle Systems retarding products including Jacobs Exhaust Brakes and Jacobs Driveline Brakes as well as Jacobs Engine Brakes. Engine brakes are used extensively on heavy-duty trucks, with diesel engines over 10.0L displacement. When operating it produces a distinctive staccato sound."
" The term "Jake Brake" also refers to our nearly silent exhaust brakes and driveline brakes, so these signs don't make sense for all Jake Brakes, and don't target the root cause of the problem, which is the illegal exhaust systems some truckers chose to configure their vehicle with." (end of quote.)
I assume your asking about the Jacobs exhaust brake and not other exhaust brake brands.
My Jacobs exhaust brake has been flawless in over 160k miles with heavy use. My Jacobs EB came with the truck as part of Dodges Businesslink program in '03. My cost was 395 bucks.
Just a couple of points. The Jacobs EB comes with a mechanical vaccum pump that is mounted inline with the serpintine belt which requires a longer belt. The valve is operated by vaccum. It is a mecanical pump and can fail which cost big bucks to replace. Dodge will warranty the Jacobs only. Check with your Dodge dealer for their input on warranty issues.
Other brands use a under hood mounted electric air pump to operate the EB valve. Its not on the serpintine belt. Many folks like the idea of having a air pump to use for other purposes.
If I had to choose another EB brand for a used truck I would choose the Pacbrake PRXB as it has more braking at lower RPMs than other brands. They all provide approx 180 hp for braking at max RPM's.
The '07.5 and up model Dodge trucks with the 6.7 engine doesn't come with a Jacobs exhaust brake. The Holset varaible geometry turbo with a sliding nozzel acts as a EB and provides up to 240 hp for braking.
Check out dieseltruckresource.com for more input on all exhaust brake pricing and where the best price are available.
Your gonna' like the EB for towing and non towing/cold morning warm ups/etc. Its a great option.

From memory, when I called my dealer for the 2007 5.9 CTD Dodge/CTD approved brake by Jacobs it was $1,200 installed. I would love to have it.

I decided to have the PacBrake installed on my truck; happens this Friday. I didn't want to have to deal with the longer serpentine belt and liked the bonus of the compressor and tank onboard for other accessories. The specs say it will engage down to 1200 rpm and I liked that, too. DTR has them on sale for $1225 for manual transmissions and $1425 for autos.
