HELLO AND THANKS. THE PICTURE ALLOWS ONE TO SEE THE RIVET. HOWEVER, THE RIVET IS COMPLETELY ENCASE IN THE RAFTER. IN OTHER WORDS, I CANNOT SEE EITHER END OF THE RIVET, IN ORDER TO DRIL IT OUT. I CANT DETERMINE WHICH END TO DRILL. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

I would suggest that you get professional help. Awnings have a very strong spring in them and if you have not worked on them or have no mechanical aptitude, you will be money ahead seeking professional help and not having to seek medical help because the spring tension hurt someone. Just my opinion and offered as food for thought before you consider to do this job yourself.

Slide it out of the outer tube. That will come loss at the bottom and the sections will separate and you can slide the slider out.
