I just returned from the Tulsa R.V. Show. I was able to take a look at the Open Road Fifth Wheel. It seemed to be well appointed and of qood quality. While these units have not been manufactured but a short time (a year or so I think)The website seems pretty infomative and impressive as to the owner's profiles. Does anyone on the forum have one of these units? How do you like it? Any problems worth mentioning?

You should be able to find a handful of owners by searching via the spyglass in the upper right hand of the Open Roads page. Use Open Road as search words and set search for the last 2 months.
I have just ordered a TT myself, but I cannot speak of ownership from experience.

Hi everyone,
The "Open Roads" trailers are being manufactured by the people who first owned and started the Dutchmen Trailers, back in the 1980's. From what my dealer has told me, this man was very unhappy with the way Thor changed his former company and the numbers of owner complaints, he decided to get back into the RV manufacturing business.
The present offerings are very much like the original Dutchmens. Very few optional items, but a lot of standard items which are options on other brands. Also, a quality unit for a fair price!
I hope he succeds. Dutchmen had the best customer ratings prior to its sale to Thor, in the mid 90's, as the best buy for the dollar.

We have one also, a TT. We looked at the 5'ers but they were too heavy for my truck to pull (at least for me)
...disclaimer on!...We have not camped in it yet due to having SNOW since we bought it last October, but hope to soon....disclaimer off.
We did however check it out thoroughly before buying. We had been looking at Montana's and other top of the ENTRY level lines so we knew when we walked into the Open Road that we had a winner. You have been in them, so I don't need to tell you the joy I felt when I saw the porcelain sinks instead of the cheap plastic ones! (A pet peeve of ours) My husband was extremely impressed at how well they are built.
Oh, and we got a fantastic deal from our local dealer.......just under $22000 with sway control,WD hitch etc etc
