For weeks now, we have seen the smallest sugar (???) ants you can imagine in our MH. Some are almost naked to the eye. The strange thing is that most of the time, the ants are not in groups but singular. They are harmless I know, but they are very annoying. I've tried traps and ant sprays which kills on contact but then they show up somewhere else inside. I have checked the basements and powercords, etc. which are negative. Once in a while, a large contigency pops up, then, after a kill, it's all over.
What to do?????????????????

I use a liquid with borax solution. lay a couple of drops of it in the way the ants travel, they eat it and bring it back to the nest when it kills all the colony.

Had those little buggers in our MH so we bombed the daylights out of them. Opened every door, cabinet, nook and cranny and let the foggers do their thing. Keep even sealed packages in zip lock bags now. After our counter attack we haven't had to put out any poison bait. I do spray arround wheels, cables and hoses at camp site and when we get back home. Also sprinkle Eliminator 5% Diazinon from Wal Mart arround the tires when parked at home, le$$ than Amdro and works great. Just updated my counter measures today since we finally have some sun.
Good Luck

If the ants are not already inside, spray everything that contacts the ground; tires, jacks, power cords, waterhoses, cable cords.
We had the same experience when we were in Fla. and this was the advice from my neighbour at the campground. It workd

Hi, Ed.

I use the same thing as I do in the house. I got tired of calling the exterminator to come back and spray again - I think they must have been using water.

The stuff I use is from Lowes and is called "Bug Stop" and is made by Spectracide. It comes in a gallon jug with sprayer. I got one for the house and one for the MH. I spray the house about once/month and MH not quite as often but if I notice ants in the campground I'll spray around the outside and inside. The label claims it is good for up to six months but living in the south and camping here I just do it more often.

How's the work on the house coming?

Ed, my friend.

There are questions about this thread. Some on here are concerned about you. Me, being your friend, accepted the job of bringing out the facts in this thread.

1. How can the ants be driving you nuts? You were already nuts before you found the ants.

2. How do you know some of the ants are "almost naked?" Are some wearing something more or different from the rest?

3. Since this has only been happening for "weeks" now, would it be possible they are coming from the surrounding landscape? You have only been there for "weeks" now. Consider moving.

4. At your age, just being able to see the ants would be a feat. Rejoice that you are seeing spots that may or may not be almost naked sugar ants.

Take some of your pain medicine, have a drink of Scotch and the ants will be gone when you wake.

Somewhere on a forum I read that a cheap and positive solution was to mix equal parts of BORAX and regular sugar. Sprinkle it around the entire RV. The sugar attracts them and the Borax kills them back in the nest.

I personally have never tried it, so if anyone does ... come on back and let us all know how it worked.

TWO CENTS WORTH
The story goes that a man died and was approached by the Devil who told him that he could buy his soul back for a dollar. The man searched his pockets and could only come up with 98 cent. While begging the Devil to forget the two cent he was short, an Angel happened by and hearing the Devil laughing, asked the man, "Would you mind if I put in my two cents ?" The Devil got so mad that he exploded in a puff of smoke and the man's soul was saved.
The moral: Sometimes putting in your two cents worth makes a difference.
