RE: Why Some Areas Have Banned Boondocking

Because of knuckleheads like this...
Please provide us with documentation on where "boondocking" has been banned.
And just an FYI with information I received from a Wal Mart manager.....
Every Wal Mart manager has been directed to allow RVer's to camp in their parking lot. The reason you can't overnight in some Wal Mart lots is that city laws prohibit doing this and not Wal Mart.

RE: Atwood Water Heater

When you say Check Valve, that's typically not a winterizing valve. A check valve is the water heater over pressure valve. If you indeed mean winterizing, then the valve, actually there are usually two valves, called By-Pass Valves, and their very close either on the side of the back of the water heater.
Sorry, but not accurate.
The "over pressure valve" is called a T&P Valve (Temperature/Pressure Relief Valve) and is not a check valve at all.
Many by-pass winterization systems use a check valve on the outlet of the water heater that prevents antifreeze from back-flowing into the water heater tank.
And, there are bypass systems that use one, two and three valves.

RE: Atwood Water Heater

The check-valve associated with a winterization by-pass system, if your system uses one (and some don't), is always on the hot-water outlet of the water heater. It usually is brass and is about 1-1/2" long and installed between the tubing and the water heater.

RE: Need a resonably $$ 4-cup coffee under cabinet reco....

Don't know of any under-counter smaller than an 8-12 cup.
If space is a problem, you may want to look into a French Press. Makes wonderful coffee and can store away in a cabinet.

RE: Help identifying an old RV

Also, I am not sure of the years but the early Executives had a class action lawsuit because the aluminum skin reacted with the steel staples and started corroding every place there was a staple under the aluminum.
If this is a fiberglass Exec, then no electrolysis issues.

RE: Water stains on ceiling

If it's a white ceiling, I have had 100% luck with a 70% Chlorox, 30% water solution.
Just be VERY sure no overspray or drips hits carpet or upholstery.

RE: outside propane tank

I would contact a local propane dealer to find out if it is leagal. Then what would have to be done to keep it leagal to go down the road. Not a bad idea, as there are probable a lot of people that would like this option.
Good luck
No need to contact propane dealer. Use a Marshall Brass Extend-A-Stay..
Available at most RV dealers. they are "legal" and has nothing to do with being "leagal to go down the road".

RE: Dometic Question

That is a Klixon thermal sensor. In case of an overheating stack, this sensor's contacts open and disconnects power to the gas valve and shuts of the gas flow to the refer.
Did your refer fall under the recall program? If so, did you have the recall performed? This one doesn't look like it has.
My Dometic already had that sensor on it before I had the recall performed but there are other models that don't have that sensor and the installation of one is part of the recall. The one you have looks factory with those rivits.

RE: Furnace serivce

There is really no preventative maintanance to do on these modern RV furnaces. It either works or it doesn't.
In order to get into the combustion chamber to clean it out, the fire box needs to be disassembled which isn't very easy and you then run the risk of tearing/dmaging the fiber gasket seals which then would need to be replaced.
I would leave it alone. Don't fix what isn't broken.

RE: Time share tour for the gifts

After purchasing three time-shares in the past 5 years, I can't emphasise enough to buy from a private party.
All three of ours were purchased on eBay for pennies on the dollar.
In fact, one we purchased, we purchased for trading since we don't want to use the home resort. We bought it for $29.00. Yes 29 dollars. It's a Gold Crown resort and we just traded it for a week at the Hyatt Regency in Newport Beach. Our yearly maintenance fees are less than $500.00 and a night's stay at this Hyatt usually runs $300/night + for the unit we are getting. We are way ahead on this deal. $2100.00 unit (7-nights) for a $500.00 maintenance fee!
We sold one of our other TS's to a friend and kept the third one. With the prices we paid, we always will be ahead of the "game" as far as value and cost.
Again, NEVER buy at the resort!!!!!!

The system you are looking for to use your Coleman stove is called an Extend-A-Flow made by Marshall Brass. Any RV store carries them.
