When backing in at home from the last trip I cut the corner a little close and clipped my awning on my houses gutter. The only damage was a broken end cap for my A & E Sunchaser Awning. I haven't had a whole lot of luck or time to find one. I ordered one but it was made of punched out steel and not painted. The one I need appears to be made from cast aluminum and gray in color.
Need some direction here please.

Did you remove the old cap yet? Not sure about your model, but I did almost the same thing to mine last year. I hit a lightpost on a street I was parked on as I pulled out. Scared the heebee jeebies out of me, but was rather relieved when I inspected it and that was the only damage.
So...on mine...the cap is attached to the spring that loads the awning when you retract it. That whole peice slides right down inside the tube, but you have to load it properly first. Specific number of turns and then a special way of holding it as you slide it into the tube.
I ordered the replacement from my local camper supply store. It's not a chain and it is locally owned. So unless you're going to Reno, NV, I have no suggestions on finding the part.

Scroll down towards the bottom of the page. Left Handed or Right Handed springs with end caps. Now you gotta figure out if it is LH or RH. Front of back of rig? Good question, huh?
