How to keep our new rig from smelling musty or moldy?
We will be receiving our new MH soon and expect to be taking some 6-8 week trips. Between trips it will be hidden in some storage lot without hookups. We will have a couple of 50w solar cells to keep the batteries topped off.
Any suggestions on how to keep it smelling fresh and new??

Welcome to the forum, Mike, and congrats on the new rig!
You might try some boxes of baking soda strategically placed. Be sure to block your fridge door open so it doesn't get musty. Some people have recommended a product called, I think, Stay Dry or maybe it's spelled Sta-Dri or something like that. It absorbs humidity. I'd check Wal-Mart for it, but I'm not sure on the details, sorry. Maybe automotive places or RV places have it, too.
Good luck!
PS. Do a thorough check underneath your coach and plug up any kind of hole with brass steel wool. (Okay, I know it can't be steel AND brass, but you know what I mean.) That will discourage mice. Don't bother with mothballs. They don't work, and I'm tired of saying it. All they would do is stink up the inside of your rig and the mice would just laugh at you behind your back.

The Stay Dri works well for absorbing humidity. To help that stuff work, I would suggest opening all the cabinet doors, fridge doors, closet doors, and washer door when you store it. The air circulation will help keep nasty things from growing in a humid dark environment.
I would also suggest cleaning the interior before you put it away. That includes the interior of the fridge, the carpet, walls, kitchen counters, shower, bathroom, etc.
Also, dump your tanks and flush them clean. Then, put a fresh set of chemicals in the tanks with enough water to fill the bottom of the tanks. You will also want to return occasionally to do two things. First, you will need to refresh the tank chemicals (add more). They don't last forever. Second, you will want to add some new water to the P-traps. The water will evaporate over time and then allow some interesting smells to pass from the tanks into the interior of you MH. Water in the traps will keep that from happening.
. . . and most important, stay on top of the sealing material used on the seams of your roof and sides. Many musty odors can be traced to poor seals allowing water intrusion into the walls. It causes things to deterioate and mold to grow.
Many happy miles to you,
