I have a super duty F250 and an Elkhorn 8.6 camper. The new fords have a higher cab so I have put a couple of 3/4 inch sheets of plywood in the box of the truck to raise the camper enough to clear the roof of the cab. I'm getting tired of the inconvenience of the plywood arrangement (not to mention the extra weight) and am wondering what others have used as a permanent lifter on the bottom of the camper. I am just thinking of a 2x4 frame with cross members permanently fixed under the camper. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

There are rubber mats available that are made just for Ford to accomodate this prroblem. We bought our Lance cabover from Chad at Caveman RV in Oregon. Am traveling and do not have all info, but do a search engine for Caveman RV and email Chad at the service email address. He can tell you the who's, what's, when's and $$$$. We leave our mats in all the time, except when we swap out and use our fifth-wheel.

PS - tell Chad the Kings say "hi" and we LOVE our Lance cabover.

We had the same problem when we got our Ranger. Our camper was previously on a Toyota. I put cross members under the camper and followed the frame exactly to add a couple of inches to the height. It was nice to not have to worry about adding a sheet or 2 of plywood each time we loaded/unloaded the camper. Worked great.
