If you put a Chevy S-10 4WD automatic transfer case in neutral, and then put the gearshift in neutral, would the S-10 suffer any transmission damage or create a drag on the motorhome over a long trip? Thanks all you experts!

You need to look at what the MFG states about that. You didn't state what year. Check remcotowing.com for some info. Or look in the vehicle's manual.

I'd first check your owner's manual for four-down towing capability and procedures. Otherwise, check the Dinghy towing guides as a "general" reference for your specific model year here.

The S-10 is not listed in the Dingy Tow Guide as being towable four down.
What does the Owners Manual say?

IF it can be towed, I think you will find out that you put the gearshift in PARK with the transfer case in NEUTRAL. You don't want the tranny to spin at all. But check all this out before you do it.

Hi maddog, Most four wheel drives that has a transfer case that can be put in neutral the transmission is usually put in park. With the transfer case in neutral the drive train is disconnected and with placing the transmission in park no gears will be turning. Vehicle owners manual will describe this procedure.

He did not say what year, but ALL Chevrolet and GMC trucks after about 2002, do NOT have a steering lock.

What are you talking about? Locked steering has nothing to do with the transmission in park. Please check the owners manual for a vehicle that can be towed.
