Has anyone experienced the overhead front TV falling out while driving.
This was a serious problem at the time, so just a warning to check the TV for tightness in the cabinet. I had no warning while driving on I-5, luckily, my leg, the dog and or the grandchildren were all out of the way.

I have been worrying about this since we bought ours. Thus the reason I am getting
rid of it this weekend and opting for a nice, light LCD TV.
How big of a mess did it make? Did it break? How about the floor?

That's just plain scary. I always worried about that in my 05', but after looking inside the cabinet I felt better. There is a serious frame in there to anchor the TV and now I'm wondering how it fell out unless it wasn't anchored to the frame itself. Even in our 08' the entire overhead can bounce if the road is bad. I chose not to look at it, but I can still see it move.
I'm on my way out to the coach now, to check the flatscreen for good anchors.
Thanks for the heads up!

OMG! That is a horrible nightmare story. Thankfully no one was hurt. I think the worst thing for us while in motion was we left the water pump turned on and driving from highway 5 to Bakersfield, the hose popped off the pump. What a wet mess in the basement and we thought that we were at Niagara Falls when we opened the basement door. Nothing compared to your television. That is absolutely terrible.

I knew there was a reason to leave the TV at home. But then I don't have grandkids to keep entertained.

Mine would start to rattle loose. Its a 2001 Monaco knight and though it doesnt look like the TV was removed often, it just kept loosening up. So we changed the hardware from just wood screws to nutserts installed on the backside of the cabinet and the hardware off the front of the retaining ring. Since then I never had a problem with it working the screws loose. Definitely something to check.

Just replaced my tv's with LCD's. Wow, that front tv is heavy - I'm guessing 100lbs. Mine would move slightly back about an inch - never an issue of falling now.

Even as the Rookie Rver I had that concern with mine so I took mine out and put commercial grade double sided tape on all four sides (top, bottom, left and right side). It was a challenge getting it back in and my thinking was if its this tight going in then it should be tight if it tries to come out. In addition I skrewed one wooden skrew on the left and right side of the frame into the tv for extra holding support (no its not a LCD or Flat panel). There are snap buttons on each side that allows for the skrews to be hiden.

If this TV was mounted above the drivers side dash, then Monaco had issued a TSB and instructions to add better brackets from your year model, because of the danger. Doug

Comment to comment:
There is a heck of a strong looking steel frame that holds the TV in place, but I think (think being the key work) that the 12 rivets that were on side of tv are the only thing actually holding the tv to the steel frame.
So anyway hit the radio, dash and tile so not a cheap fix. But a new LED will replace this old TV, which will be much smaller and lighter.
