Mr. Moderator. I received this yesterday and thought the Tech Issues might be the best location to post it. Should you need to move or even remove it, I completely understand.
Hi All,
PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS!
You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK,'regardless of who sent it to you. It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns' the whole hard disc C of your computer.
This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list. This is the reason why you need to send this e-mail to all your contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it.
If you receive a mail called' POSTCARD,' even though sent to you by a friend, do not open it! Shut down your computer immediately. This is the worst virus announced by CNN.
It has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept.
COPY THIS E-MAIL, AND SEND IT TO YOUR FRIENDS.
REMEMBER: IF YOU SEND IT TO THEM, YOU WILL BENEFIT ALL OF US
See ya out there!!

This is a known hoax. Please remember any email that tells you to send this to all your friends is probably a hoax. All these emails look the same. Send it to everyone, Microsoft just found this virus, it was on CNN. As an IT professional, I get these all the time from upset users who are scared to death. If you get any of these emails, check snopes.com or urbanlegends.com before you send to everyone.

For what it's worth: Snoops says this is mostly a hoax and though sending a virus through this sort of email with attachments is possible there is no specific threat. They recommend NORMAL care be taken in opening any email attachments or following links sent in email.

TWO CENTS WORTH
The story goes that a man died and was approached by the Devil who told him that he could buy his soul back for a dollar. The man searched his pockets and could only come up with 98 cent. While begging the Devil to forget the two cent he was short, an Angel happened by and hearing the Devil laughing, asked the man, "Would you mind if I put in my two cents ?" The Devil got so mad that he exploded in a puff of smoke and the man's soul was saved.
The moral: Sometimes putting in your two cents worth makes a difference.

You should go to Snopes next time to check your info. To quote them:
Although the postcard virus is real, it isn't a "BIG VIRUS COMING" (it's already been around in multiple forms for a long time now), it will not "burn the whole hard disc" of your computer, CNN didn't classify it as the "worst virus" ever, and it doesn't arrive in messages bearing a subject line of "Invitation.".

Nearly all viruses come with attachments. The Golden Rule is the following:
NEVER open an attachment unless ALL of the following hold:
1. You are acquainted with the person who sent you the attachment.
2. You know why the person sent you the attachement.
3. You know the approximate content of the attachment.
If you don't know ALL three of the above, then send an email back to the sender and ask. If no answer is forthcoming, then delete it.
Even following the Golden Rule, viruses can slip through. That's what up-to-date virus protection schemes are for.

Here is a direct quote from "truthorfiction.com":
Warning-Fiction! & Truth!
Summary of the eRumor
The eRumor warns of a virus just discovered by Mcafee or Norton and classed by Microsoft as the most destructive ever.
It says the virus destroys "Sector Zero" from the heard disk, sends itself to all the names in your email address book, wipes out the hard disk, and has caused a panic in New York, according to CNN.
It says that the subject will be "A Card for You", "Virtual Card for You", or "Postcard." Some versions also say the subject will be "Postcard from Hallmark."
The Truth
This particular email is a hoax---although there has been a real "Postcard" virus.
The hoax has circulated continuously on the Internet since at least 2001.
There is no known virus called "A card for you" or "A virtual card for you."
