we have a skylight over the shower in our bedroom/bathroom. in august, with no shade trees, it gets really hot in the shower and some days, if you want to sleep in, it is really bright. to fix it with something that didn't look like a redneck did it (cardboard & duct tape), i went to wal-mart and picked up an auto shade. you know the kind, suction cups, rolls up & down, 2 for $5 that go on your car window. i used 2 screws already in the trim of the skylight and a screen door latch on the other side to hold it when covering the skylight. now we can shade the light and it looks pretty good. this one just happened to be the right size for our skylight but i think they make different sizes.

just got to figure a good use for the other one now.

I don't know why they even bother putting skylights in? My understanding is that the heat/sun/whatever will do damage to the fiberglass (so I happened to see when looking at RVs awhile back, some guy was replacing his whole shower pan because of the cracked fiberglass due to the intense heat from the sun.

I had some left-over window tint material and put that up into the sky-light. It's been up there four years now.

RV suppliers have a foam pillow type pad that fits tightly into the skylight but can be removed just by pulling it out. Or cut your own foam pad to fit.

A piece of the foil faced bubble stuff and a few Velcro buttons and you can block all the light…
But I like the light they give and need the head room…

I had the same idea and got one of the window shades at a yard sale this summer. My vent is over the bed, those lights are bright in the Walmart parking lots! I haven't installed it yet but like the way you think.

When we got our MH, we had the same complaint.
DW went to a fabric store and got some 2" thick foam and we cut pieces to fit into the vent openings.
Im glad for the skylight in ours. Being over 6', without it, Id have to stoop down in an already cramped area.
Put them in the bedroom, shower, bathroom and one of the front vents.
Works very nicely.
