Looking to go from a Hybrid to a pop up or tent, down sizing. After a few times of setting up a pop up, how long and difficult is it, Is set up easier or harder than a basic tent (approz 15min. with bedding)? thanks Tomm

When we had the pup and some experience it usually took about 15 to 17 minutes.

Don't have the answer to your question but IMHO it should not be a question. There are more important areas to be concerned with than time to set up.
Suggest you go to www.rvknowhow.com and read the Kieva's suggestions for how to select an RV.
This response may seem to be a little abrupt but I would not want you to spend good money and not be happy with your choice.

A PUP is just a different routine, it takes me between 20 and 30 minutes to set everything up, I do all the work (the wife can't help: bad shoulder). When you've done it 2 or 3 times, it should take you the same time, maybe even a little less.

We just went from a 2002 Jayco 10UD to a 2008 Jayco 23B. It took us about 15 - 20 minutes to set up the popup. The big difference for us was not having all of the items in it, for example refrigerator, stove, microwave, etc. We would take the time to set all of this up. What took the longest was the awning. That took about 10 extra minutes. We really enjoyed the popup but felt that we just wanted easier setup and more room for our two children.

Whew! You guys are fast.
While we can get the PUP open in 7-10 minutes, it takes quite a bit longer to set up our camp. I do the "add-a-room" and outside setup including moving gear from the TV. DW takes on the inside, putting out the shelves, and supplies and arranging the bedding.
By the time we sit down with a celebratory beer it is an hour later.

Basic set up which includes stab jacks, awning, raising the roof, attaching the door usually takes about 15 minutes with two people working at it. I've seen people take as much as two hours stringing Christmas lights, yard art, carpets and EZ Ups and tote tanks. Good luck / skip

My set up is semi-permanent (3 months) so it takes me about 3 hours including hauling the table out, setting up the screen house, chairs, tables, microwave, IPod player, radio, start the fridge, Etc Etc Etc.

When we had our pup. It was 15 min from leveling to sitting under the awning. AND everything, Ref, food, clothes, blankets, toys, chairs, and lights were already in there, and the beds were sometimes made before we left the house.

I could never get the tent up in 15min, and then I had to put the beds in there, along with anything else we wanted. Popping up was just so much easier that tenting, or IMOP even TTing. It takes me longer to get the TT ready to camp that it did the pup.

It would take us about 15 - 20 minutes to set it up but that was just the basics. If we did the add a room, awning it could take up to an hour. We did as much as we could at home like make the beds stuff like that just so we did not have to do that when we arrived.

But with 6 people total and a 100LB dog a TT makes things a lot easier for us.
