We just returned home from an 8 night stay at
Pirateland where we enjoyed ourselves and the
CG was more than we expected . We arrived on
Sat. 6-22-02 about 4:00pm and left on
Sun. 6-30-02 about 10:30am . We really liked
the area we were in because it was mostly
shaded , close to the bath house which kept
clean considering how much it was used and
were about 3 streets back from the pool and
lazy river . I done a lot of bike riding as
did my kids . I also liked the beach area but
not as much because its right out in the hottt
sunnn. We spent a loy of time at the CG and
were very satisfied and will probably go back
next year . Larry

We were at Lakewood at the same time. Visited my niece and her husband at Pirate Land, sites were too close and not marked very well for night. Couldn't find her site for a while, finaly spotted her , didn't know her vehicle or camper type. Those one way rds weren't my style. but anyway glad you enjoyed the trip. Saturday arrival sure was a toad strangler rain .

We live in Concord, NC and often go camping at Pirateland. We used to go to Ocean Lakes (another very nice campground), but starting choosing Pirateland instead due to it not being as crowded and better chance of getting reservations.

Pirateland also has the built in shelters in each campsite, which we have found to be really nice (protects bikes, shelter for eating outdoors). We usually bring a tarp and wrap the shelter with the tarp to protect the area from the wind and sand (also keeps the grill from blowing out).

Last year Pirateland upgraded their pool as well. Bigger with a really nice children's pool area, and a lazy river!

I do agree with the previous posts, the sites are a bit small, and most of them are back-ins, so parking can be a bit tricky. We have found that the 600 side in the beach front area offers a little more privacy and the beaches aren't as full, as this side backs up to a residential area.

We have had many wonderful vacations and great memories at Pirateland! Highly recommend it!
