We are going to head down to Key West for some camping. Has anyone stayed at Boyds campground, Bluewater Key RV Resort, or Jabours Trailer Court in Key West? Looking for a fun place to camp in our 29'RV and use our WaveRunners.

We have been to the Keys several times....I dont recommend staying in Key West, the keys are very cramped but especially in Key West...We looked at the campgrounds in Key West and found them too tight for our 36'.

We stayed at the KOA about 20 miles from KeyWest. We found it well run slightly cramped, and a nice marina, would be perfect for waverunners...

We found the short drive into Key West no problem, and the campground a lot quieter than being in Key West...

Just my humble opinion

Look into Bahia Honda Fl State Park, about 30 miles from Key West. But, no pets allowed. They have a ramp to launch your skis.
I hear Jabors is very close, like no slides ? But, a super location !
Do a search here on Jabors & Boyds for lots of info.
Do a Google search on The Keys for lots of info.
Good luck !

We've stayed at the KOA on Long Key a couple of times and found it nice. Sites aren't huge, but room for a dbl slide out unit. They allow pets and it's close enough to Key West to go back and forth. Much more reasonable than KW too. Have fun.

I was there in Febuary. Jabours is a little dumpy looking place with 5 or 6 site in the middle of town. (Key West) I have no clue how you get the rigs in there. We stayed at Fiesta Key KOA which was very roomy and very nice. From there to Sugarloaf KOA which was nice but pressed in like sardines. They had a shuttle that took you into Key West which was great. RV's roaming around Key West will not work. No room, no place to park and if you do find a place, it might not look so good when you get back to it.

Stayed at Boyd's 18 months ago. OK campground and certainly close in to Key West. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Sites were small, although those on the cove were quite nice (we were "inland"). We passed several campgrounds further out that seemed to be nicer overall, although we had no real complaints with Boyd's (for us it was just a place to park and sleep).
Do NOT try to take a motorhome any further in than where Boyd's is - you will be really sorry - the traffic and narrow streets will drive you nuts!!!
Enjoy the sunsets.

We have stayed at Blue water several times, it is one of the nicest and the most expensive anywhere. I believe it is up to $80-100 per night and maybe more during the winter months. Have driven by the other 2 and they are regular parks. The one (jarbours) right in Key west is very small and the bars that are very close play music till the late hours. Blue water sites are privately owned and cost around $250,000. Lots of very expensive buses there during season. You can get a site on the canal or the ocean front. They have their own dock at each site and most have spent a fortune on landscaping and big tiki huts with bars and sinks and fans etc. They have a nice pool and laundry and a place to put in a boat. We caught lots of fish right off the dock, hugh barracuda. We went there when it was around $50 a night and really love the place. Check out littlepalmisland.com for the greatest dining experince! have fun!

I would sooner light myself on fire than try to drive a motor home into Key West!! Jabors is real small and kind of dumpy but I have been a regular at a lot of the establishments around it and it is not in a bad area. Boyds is a lot bigger, extremely cramped but nice, we never stayed at Boyds but did not care for the surrounding neighborhood at Boyds which is located on Block Island. Blue Water Key is spectacular, some of the nicest sites you will find in Florida, most or maybe all are directly on the water. All of the sites are privately owned so some have beautiful patios, fire pits, cabanas, ect. It will not be cheap but then nothing in the Keys is. We have always stayed at the KOA which is at mile marker 20, the enterance is right accross US#1 from Mangrove Mammas a great restaurant. The KOA is very well run, great hookups, very flat but cramped. We had no problem being comfortable in our 36" motor home so once your parked its great. They have a marina, a very casual nightclub, and a great little snack bar and gift shop. They also know how to charge for their sites, I think they were in the $60 to $70 range per night. Have a great time!!
