Pine Ridge RV Resort, in Birch Run
This one has no swimming, which is a big minus for us.
Bay City Recreation Area
Looking on mapquest, this one has a railroad track running right through the park, which is a HUGE minus for us. Does anyone know if the tracks are active?
Genesee Otter Lake
I've seen only one review of this one, and it was quite negative.
Ber-wa-ga-na, in Vassar
This one seems promising, but I've not been able to find any info on it.
If anybody has any info on Ber-wa-ga-na, or has any other suggestions, I'm all ears.
Hi Rob,
We stayed at the Jellystone campground last year about this time with the RV.net group. It was a very nice campground with lots to do if you have kids. It is also very close to downtown Frankenmuth. In fact, several of out members walked downtown last year. Yes, they do not allow campfires at the individual sites but they do have a nice area where you can build a campfire. They did not build one while we were there but I'm sure anyone can who wants to.
All in all a really nice place to stay.

We stayed at Pine Ridge last September and it was beautiful. The foliage was incredible. we also arrived on a Sunday and practically had the place to ourselves. Liked how it was more "rustic" campground. Stayed at Jellystone the year before about the same time in September. We too missed having a campfire but the pool and hot tub were wonderful ( even in September) and the bathrooms were VERY clean. The whole park was in tip top shape. Came to find out that the same time we were there, the inspection team for franchise was there, so I guess it was extra special condition. We would go back to Pine Ridge. Just liked the feeling better and the fire is more important to us than the pool.

There are many active railroads in and around Bay City but none that go through the campgrounds. Maybe one goes thru property that is part of the CG, though, but it's away from the actual CG itself. Bay City may technically have a swimming are, but you don't want to go swimming there. You can thank the over-zealous, environmentalist governmental agencies for that, but I won't get started on my soap box this morning.
A call to Bronners may be helpful. The Bronners company is top notch and big promoters of the area. They also have a "few" Christmas decorations on sale at their store. Definatley a "must see".
You may want to check out Covenant Hills Camp. It's run by a church and has a no alcohol rule. Very family orientated. They say they are 35 minutes from Frankenmuth. They have swimming there.

Here's a web site that should help you.

Good luck, have fun! and don't eat too much chicken. (It's a Frankenmuth thing)

Well Woodalls gives Ber-WA-GA-NA WWW on Facilities 30 foot wide sites, wwww on Recreations no pool listed but a swimming pond which might be a little cold this time of year! As for Jellystone my brother's family had been there they did not like it, the sites were very small (his words). THey stay at the Pine Ridge RV campgrounds and love it there. Also he has two girls 5 and 7.
Good luck!

IMO stay away from Gennessee Otter Lake. It is a Coast to Coast Good Neighbour Park - but the write up in coast to coast is very inaccurate - and the campground (when we were there 2 years ago) is disappointing.
