For you out-of-towners planning to travel on I-95 through New York, nighttime construction is suppose to start Sept. 15 on the Cross Bronx Expressway. Of course, I can't understand why anyone would use the CBE if they did not have to, but then I have lived in the New York area all my life.

I must echo the author's comments regarding the Cross Bronx Expressway. As one who grew up in "Da Bronx", trying to navigate this so called excuse for an interstate highway can be unnerving at best and downright scary most other times. Even without construction, this is a highway that can have a massive traffic jam at 3:00 AM on a Sunday morning. If you ever have a need to drive this highway, look at a map for alternates. If you can't find a good one, post a message here and many area locals will be more than glad to route you away from the CBE. For that matter, try and stay off most highways that go through New York City such as the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, the Gowanus Expressway and, my favorite the Van Wyck Expressway. This is highway has been going through construction for probably the last 20 years.
