Charleston’s Southern Charms With its coastal location and subtropical climate, Charleston gets more than its share of rain but still basks in sunshine 230 days a year. Pleasant temperatures and blooming azaleas and dogwoods make spring an ideal time to visit. Summer can be sultry and humid, but ocean breezes and afternoon thunderstorms help the city keep its cool. Autumn brings clear skies and crisp evenings, followed by generally mild winters with a chance of snow in late December and January.
Symbolizing Southern hospitality, the landmark Pineapple Fountain welcomes visitors to Charleston’s Waterfront Park.
