Expedition & Laredo 29′

192331_laredoext.jpgFord’s Expedition gave the full-size SUV business a serious jump-start when it was introduced in 1997. It wasn’t long before there was a huge crowd of RVers using the Expedition as a tow vehicle of choice, given its versatility, comfort and overall smart design. The 2003 Expedition stands to expand on that reputation with its ream of new features and functionality, to say nothing of its head-turning good looks.

Not all drivers need or want a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle. Our test Expedition was Ford’s two-wheel-drive (2WD) version of the dynamic SUV, and with its optional 5.4-liter Triton V-8 toting the load, it briskly took us everywhere we wanted to travel.

Meanwhile, Keystone RV Company, a subsidiary of Thor Industries Inc., has been making a lot of noise in the RV industry with its multiple lines of highly successful and affordable RV products. The Keystone Laredo 29-foot model 25+4RL trailer is typical of the manufacturer’s new units that offer a lot of RVing fun potential while incorporating interesting design elements.
The model 25+4RL features a very fifth-wheel-like floorplan with a forward island-style queen-size bed adjacent to a walk-through bath, a large aft-end living suite with a dinette in the small streetside slideout, a curbside kitchen and a sofa bed across the aft wall.

The Laredo was a good match for the Expedition, and the two made a combination that was easy to drive and enjoyable to use.
