2215405_gulf_stream_yellowstone_ext.jpgThe recent trend in the RV industry is to focus more on lighter-weight trailers that can be
towed by the family commuter. Gulf Stream has taken a different approach and is making certain the “bigger-is-better” crowd gets its fair shake as well.

Available under the Yellowstone (shown here) and Prairie Schooner marques, the 37FRE fifth-wheel features top-notch construction, residential luxury and plenty of living space … thanks to six slideouts. Yes, you read that correctly.

Count along with us, beginning at the rear of the fiver: There are two opposing slides in the lounge area, one housing dual recliners and the other a J-lounge sofa; a dinette slide featuring a freestanding table and chairs; a kitchen slide for the 12 cubic-foot four-door refrigerator, spacious pantry and three-burner stove with microwave above; a hallway wardrobe slide opposite the fully enclosed side-aisle bath; and a bedroom slide that’s home to either a standard queen bed or optional king bed, both boasting a pillow-top mattress. Phew!

With all that extra space comes additional storage, with “attic overhead storage cabinets” above the kitchen and living-room slides, plus a huge wardrobe and eight-drawer chest flanked by dual full-length windows and a handy window seat with a built-in hamper – perfect for the laundry you’ll be able to do in camp, thanks to the optional washer/dryer prep.

The galley is quite entertainer-friendly, featuring a large wraparound peninsula bar with a dual-basin sink and plenty of counterspace. The upscale hardwood cabinetry enhances the residential feel.

The rear entertainment wall features a built-in 42-inch LCD TV, arched window, desk area and more storage.

Mor/ryde suspension is standard, as are electric dump valves, dual tank monitors, a water-filtration system and dual 7,000-pound axles.

Though the Prairie Schooner is designed for full-timers, the combination of residential amenities and slideouts galore may make it difficult for the well-compensated weekend warrior to resist.
