Winnebago’s eye-catching, full-featured Minnie Drop bunkhouse sets a high bar for other smaller towables
Although it’s on the heavy side of the tiny-trailer spectrum, the 21-foot, 3,160-pound (dry) 2020 Winnebago Minnie Drop 190BH would be the perfect companion to tow behind many midsize SUVs, crossovers and pickups. It’s aerodynamic, sleeps four, and has a walk-in bathroom, a nice galley in the single slideout and the basic amenities one finds in larger travel trailers.
Constructed of a fiberglass roof and side walls mounted on a plywood-covered aluminum floor structure, the Minnie Drop 190BH features wide 48-by-74-inch bunk beds in the rear and a roomy U-shaped dinette up front that converts to a 58-by-74-inch bed. In between is a shower-equipped walk-in bathroom fed by a 6-gallon water heater and 31-gallon freshwater tank. Flooring is vinyl laminate, and lighting is LED, giving the 190BH a bright, modern ambience.
If there’s a chill in the air, the 18,000-Btu furnace quickly warms up the interior. Too warm? The 13,500-Btu air conditioner easily handles summer heat and humidity. Entertainment inside the 6-foot, 5-inch-high trailer is via the LED TV and Bluetooth stereo system on the wall that faces the dinette seating area. USB ports are conveniently located throughout to charge personal devices.
Kitchen and Storage
The street-side galley slideout features a two-burner cooktop, a microwave above the Dometic fridge and a convenient pantry closet. There’s storage under the bunk beds and beneath the dinette that’s accessible from outside. Outdoor cooking is easily accomplished using the two-burner stovetop and sink that slide out from an exterior compartment on the curbside rear.
In addition to the outside kitchen, the Minnie Drop 190BH has a 7-foot power awning on the curbside that expands seating, socializing and feasting space. It also has 25-gallon black and gray tanks to extend dry camping time before heading to a dump station.
FIRST TAKE >> The 2020 Winnebago Minnie Drop 190BH manages to fit all the important amenities into an easily towable, roomy trailer that weighs less than 4,000 pounds fully loaded. It’s 21-foot length makes it suitable for camping in small spaces, and its light weight matches up nicely for towing behind the new midsize pickups and SUVs.
