Briefs: Buyers, Drivers, Volvo V-8

Women Select Vehicles Based on Life Stage

Last year, the top-five vehicle models purchased by women in the
United States were the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Honda Civic, Ford
F-Series and Ford Taurus. Statistics, provided by the Power Information
Network (PIN), show that women between 40 and 50 years of age buy the
most cars, followed by 30- to 40-year-olds, the 50 to 60 age group,
women under 30 and, lastly, women over the age of 60.

When to Stop Driving

For the baby-boomer generation, the issue of when to take away the
car keys from mom or dad is a big dilemma since parents see it as
taking away their independence. Families worried about a parent’s
ability to drive can get help from a new guide titled “We Need to Talk:
Family Conversations With Older Drivers,” produced by the Hartford
Financial Services Group. The booklet presents helpful information to
guide families through the discussion. For more information: www.thehartford.com.
