Carmakers to Offer Drowsy-Driver Alert

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates
that about 1.5 percent of all crashes, or approximately 100,000
annually, involve drowsy drivers. Also on some straight high-speed
highways, nearly half of all fatal crashes are thought to be caused by
fatigue.

Infiniti has announced that it will begin offering technology on
certain vehicles that warns drivers when they make an unintended lane
change. Ford also said it is developing a product that alerts drowsy
drivers when there is an unintended lane change by their vehicle.
