GM May Add RWD Range of Cars

General Motors is expected to decide by the end of this year whether to build a range of
V-8 powered, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) cars for the U.S. market. The new midsized models would
meet the growing demand for RWD cars in the United States.

Under the plan, Chevrolet and
Pontiac would get models in approximately three years, if the idea receives approval by
upper management. The models would be premium ones but priced below Cadillac’s RWD models,
which begin around $30,000.

This is good news for trailerists, since V-8-powered RWD cars
are superior to front-wheel-drive models for towing.
