Where the Wilder Things Are The Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Highway spans several Midwestern states and connects five northern sites that were a treasured part of the author’s life. The route passes through Pepin, Wisconsin; Spring Valley, Minnesota; Burr Oak, Iowa; Walnut Grove, Minnesota; and De Smet, South Dakota.
