Winner’s Circle: 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards

Readers choice awards Logo

Trailer Life readers single out their favorite products and places in our seventh-annual RV survey

RVers have a reputation for helping one another, whether they’re lending a hand to change a flat tire on the side of the road, sharing a spare fuse with their neighbors in the next campsite or offering advice on an online forum. Exchanging RV tips just comes naturally, and recommendations on everything from favorite destinations to the best driving routes are dispensed like marshmallows at a campfire. For those new to the RV lifestyle, community-sourced knowledge is particularly valuable. Tapping into RVers’ willingness to share, each year Trailer Life conducts an online survey to find the brands and businesses readers rely on most. The results from our latest poll are now ready for the big reveal, including several new categories. Without further ado, we present the gold, silver and bronze awards for 2018, stamped with your collective seal of approval.

  1. Sorry, but the Andersen fifth-wheel hitch is hands-down the best hitch on the market to date. I’ve been fifth-wheeling for 15 years, and nothing else has come close to the ease of hookup and the quietness of the ride. Also, when it needs to come off the truck, it weighs under 40 pounds.

  2. Sorry, but Pilot Flying J is the priciest place one can get fuel, even with your Good Sam big discount. Easy in and out is all they have going for them.

  3. So you had me with the ratings right up to the sit-down restaurants. I can see Texas Roadhouse, but the other three, really? Ah, we try to avoid the chains anyway. Travel far and support the locals of where we visit.

  4. This will always be a Readers’ Use, not Readers’ Choice Awards. People are going to vote the product they use. It has no bearing on what the best product is. You would have to try all products in a category to vote objectively.

  5. Our debit card has been compromised twice, and both times were when we where at a Flying J, so we don’t use Flying J. Also, Loves and Flying J both use biodeisel, and with our 2003 truck, we we’re told not to use it.

  6. Denny’s? You can’t be serious. A restaurant chain that has continuously failed health inspections for cleanliness and food handling and storage. Are these choices made up, because no one asked me.
