Land Rover has been selling its compact Freelander 4WD sport-utility vehicle in Europe for
approximately two years, but now it’s coming to the United States. The Euro models had a
1.8-liter diesel, but Land Rover displayed the U.S.-bound version at the Geneva Auto Show.
It’s powered by a 3.0-liter V-6 rated 175-hp and will feature a five-speed “Auto
Steptronic” transmission. Look for these new vehicles at U.S. dealers in late 2001.
