Toyota plans to introduce a new full-size sport-utility vehicle in December 2000. Named the
Sequoia, the new SUV will be built in Indiana. It will be based on the Tundra pickup-truck
chassis, with the same available 4.7-liter V-8 engine and running gear. Toyota projects
60,000 sales the first year. The Land Cruiser (which sold about one-fourth that volume)
will continue to be sold alongside it, at least for now.
